Born in California, Stanley Emile CARDINET, Jr., 23 May 1938.
Stan's early years were in the wonder and color of his grandmother’s garden, overlooking the San Francisco Bay.
Inspired by this youthful wonder he began to play with pen, pencil, and color. His vivid imagination evolved into a world of original artistry.
Stan CARDINET was a self-taught painter who studied the Masters. He considered his real teachers to be the frustration and satisfaction, derived while working his tools and pigments. Referring to his style as crude and inconsistent, Stan was challenged every time he picked up his brush. Never having to depend on painting for income, he felt free to create without concerns for market trends. His imagination was the impetus for his originals to reflect a fanciful side of man and nature. He had always hoped to become a professional painter in his later years but acknowledged that time was not at his side. He remained a "hermit" painter with a substantial body of work.
